Seeking Volunteer Librarian!

The 390th Memorial Museum is seeking a volunteer for a start-up library geared towards education and outreach! Successful candidates will be detailed and enjoy interacting with diverse staff and museum patrons. The job will entail working with the museum’s collection and education staff to create a circulating library for museum members and volunteers. Candidate will work with education and collections staff to ensure materials for circulation are tagged for specific museum departments.

Examples of duties

  • Accurate re-shelving of library materials
  • Assisting patrons with finding materials
  • Checking materials in and out of the library, renewal, holds, patron registration and renewal
  • Identifying materials for outreach and education
  • Identifying multiple copies of materials
  • Identifying materials for permanent retention
  • Performs routine book maintenance and processing including due dates, re-labeling spines when applicable and inspecting materials for damage
  • Related work as required

Preferred Skills

  • Some basic knowledge of library clerical procedures
  • Skill in basic data entry
  • Online searching
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Friendly, high quality customer service

A high school diploma or equivalent and some experience in using libraries OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Note: Position could become a formal internship for college credit.
