The 390th Bomb Group had more men interned in POW camps than were KIA. Learn more about their experience.
The last missions of the 390th Bomb Groups saw aircrafts with all guns removed and bomb bays loaded with food. These humanitarian missions were a stop gap measure between the end of hostilities and the formal treaty signing that ended the war to save the Dutch from starvation.
