Crossing Paths: Stories of Two POW Families
Event: A Journey Through History with Maureen Buick and MSgt Walter Ram
Date: November 18th at 11am
Join us for a captivating discussion featuring Maureen Buick, author of Finding Bomb Boogie: A Daughter’s Search to Rediscover her Father—the World War II Bomber Boy, Prisoner of War & American Veteran.
Maureen, a retired registered nurse with a background in adult and neonatal critical care, developed a passion for World War II history after researching her father, TSgt Donald L. Hayes, and his remarkable wartime experiences. Her journey took her across Europe and beyond, tracing her father’s footsteps to places like Germany, Poland, Great Britain, Panama, and Austria, including a poignant visit to Stalag 17B, the POW camp where he was held.
Joining Maureen is MSgt Walter Ram, who was also interned at Stalag 17B during the same period. At an impressive 100 years young, Walter serves as a docent at the 390th Memorial Museum.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear both Maureen and Walter share their families’ intertwined stories, illuminating a shared history that spans 81 years.
